D&D Kustom Collision is a locally owned and operated collision repair facility founded in 1994. By concentrating on customer service, quality, and timely repairs, we have become the company our customers depend on when they need collision repairs.

In today's world, dealing with insurance companies and repair shops has become much more complicated. The vehicle owner wants the automobile repaired and returned with as little inconvenience as possible. The insurance company wants the repair completed in a cost-effective manner, on-time, and without recurring costs. D&D Kustom Collision wants the vehicle owner and the insurance company to be 100% satisfed when the repair process is completed.

The Repair Process

Upon arrival, your damaged vehicle will be thoroughly inspected and a preliminary estimate will be prepared using state-of-the-art estimating computer software. This estimate will be provided to you and/or your insurance company.

No work will begin until written authorization has been received. The damaged portion of your vehicle will then be disassembled and will be inspected for any hidden damage. If additional accident-related damage is discovered, we will prepare a supplemental estimate and submit it directly to your insurance carrier for approval prior to continuing the repair.

Upon approval, our expert technicians will remove the damaged parts and make repairs or replacements. The decision to replace depends on the extent of the damage and what the most cost-effective solution would be. This decision is made by the estimator, aided by the computerized estimating program. After repairs are completed, the vehicle proceeds to our paint department for refinishing.

The most important step in the refinishing process is proper preparation. Items such as door handles, mouldings and nameplates are removed from the part to be painted. It is easier and less expensive to simply mask these items with tape, but masking leaves rough edges that can lead to peeling and other problems. We will not take this shortcut because the finish (as well as all our work) is covered by our limited lifetime warranty. Next, the parts are sanded and primed. Using the paint code on the vehicle, the paint is computer-mixed right here in our shop then applied to the vehicle. If your vehicle uses a three-stage paint system, it may be necessary to apply a second color. Finally a clear coat is applied. After the finish has cured, it is buffed and cleaned.

Often slight variations in the color occur due to variations in the manufacturer's finishes or due to the aging of the paint on your vehicle. To hide these variations, it is necessary to blend the adjacent panels on the vehicle.

In the concluding step, the door handles and other items that were previously removed are reattached. The vehicle is then inspected and made ready for pick up.
